Roy Staniforth

Hi, my name is Roy Staniforth. I’ve been a client of J Edward Sellars for around 12 years, and my adviser is Andrew Hooper.

Financially, I needed help with stability. I wanted to ensure that my investments weren’t going to go down unnecessarily and would be there long term.

Previously, I was with a different company, and then they transferred the business to J Edward Sellars. So now I’ve been with them for 12 years.

I get on well with Andrew. He always seems to remember who you are, and he’s interested in what you’re doing. He comes across very well. He comes to visit me, and he makes things personal. I get on well with him.

Over the years, Andrew Hooper has helped me with numerous things. Initially, it was stabilising my investments. At my age, I couldn’t afford to lose lots of money, so it’s important they’re stable. Secondly, they took control of the investments, so I didn’t have to worry, and they produced a good result for me. They helped me out when my wife died with sorting out my finances, and latterly, they’ve helped to provide me with an income from a trust and made a trust for my son so he can avoid Capital Gains Tax.

Working with J Edward Sellars makes me feel that my finances are safe and well looked after; I don’t worry about them at all.

I feel really confident that they’re doing the best thing for me. I’m not particularly a worrier, and I don’t worry about the future; I’m just quite happy where I am.

If I were to describe Andrew in three words, I’d say he’s very sociable, helpful, and trustworthy.

The best thing about working with Andrew for me is stability. I don’t have to worry about my finances. Working with Andrew, I’ve had lots of good advice, but I think the best was to set up a trust so it gives me extra income, which is really good, and it’s good for my son.

I’d definitely recommend Andrew. He gives you confidence that he’s going to do what you want, and I think that’s the most important thing.
